The Raveonettes - In and Out of Control
When the cold becomes warm
'Bang! You're so vicious baby '... is the phrase that signals the start of the In and Out of Control, the fourth album of this Danish duo set that has become one of the first options when listening to' pop-rock melancholy cut 'is question.
It's remarkable streak of Lust Lust Lust (Vice Records, 2007), and on days like today, cloudy skies, routine work sessions and want to disconnect from everything that happens around them, feel like putting it back into the player.
provengan de las heladas tierras nórdicas, pues suenan bastante fríos… helados por momentos . Based eg on "gone forever", which is less romantic than an encounter between two 'barras bravas', is somewhat logical that come from the frozen Raveonettes Nordic lands, as they sound pretty cool ... ice at times.
sean extremadamente meticulosos y fuercen las melodías en exceso: es más una cuestión de gustos musicales que parecieran llevar en la sangre … a ellos les gusta sonar así, crudos y gélidos. Not that Sune Rose Wagner and Sharin Foo are extremely meticulous and force the melodies in excess: it is more a matter of musical tastes that seem to lead in the blood ... they like to sound so raw and icy.
Borrowing some features from classic American women's groups as the Ronettes or the Shangri-Las, their sound is a simple invitation to nostalgia.
In this kind of cross between My Bloody Valentine, hard beats and a nod to the retro movement, the duo has achieved a unique and distinctive sound.
In times when few seem to look back and be inspired by past decades women's groups, clearly the Raveonettes do not follow the pattern of fashion. Listening to disc one is hardly modern electronic rhythms, pop tunes only a strong retro: thanks to this we can involve ourselves in beautiful melodies such as "Last Dance" for example (the video does not do justice), a faithful follower of that "leader of the pack", interpreted in the mid-60s by the Shangri-Las.
saben hacer mejor: melodías entrañables que consiguen maquillar sus letras cargadas de oscuridad . A song can create quite an atmosphere of melancholy and longing for what we did in the past, and which stands as a clear example of what Wagner and Foo do best: intimate melodies that get charged lyrics make up their darkness.
The latter is what "boys who rape (should all be destroyed)" tries but fails to strongly. Something similar happens to "Oh, I buried you today.
And the Raveonettes can become sublime if all the factors that dominate are given at once: when one is not present, one will notice.
” o de la ya conocida “ suicide ”. Even so, most subjects concerning the In and Out of Control are quite well, whether we speak of the roaring "break up girls!" Or known as "suicide".
, quien conoce a la perfección la manera de compenetrarse con ella y sabe sostener el ritmo que ésta impone. It is clear that much of the success enjoyed by this duo is due to the 'vocal gifts' of Sharin, but we must not ignore the great work of Sune Rose multi-instrumentalist, who knows perfectly how to empathize with she knows to keep pace and it imposes.
”. As evidence of this could cite the 'ethereal-cast to My Bloody Valentine' "wine", or thin and moderately danceable "heart of stone".
Despite the title, the Raveonettes never seem out of control on the album ... and this is precisely what keeps the musical stability in most parts of it, which could also be viewed as a point against it could make is labeled of 'monotonous'.
In and Out of Control is not a work that stands out for its spontaneity. In certain sections may seem too neat and cloying, but this conforms to what we expect from him.
At this point, The Raveonettes have almost nothing to prove: we all know that when it comes equipped with a chill compositions heartbreaking, they say this.
If today are looking for an album that sounds loudly aggressive and serve as a vehicle for downloading all that repressed anger in all of us, needless to say they will not find it here.
The In and Out of Control does not reinvent the formula that we know of this duo ... but with pop melodies that includes creditor should not be many negative comments.
