Another Spanish La Movida [I - IV]

La Otra Movida Española

Some time ago I devoted a few lines to this important musical movement that many of us nurtured in decades past, but with an argument-most-presented to groups not so well known on this side of the Atlantic and in many cases neither in the Iberian Peninsula.

Well, yesterday I received a mail from a colleague suggesting I re-hanging the files as' did much to rebuild the Spanish music scene in those days, before the mouth of the discharge and charge the power that blogs have now ', citing it verbatim.

And nothing, as I am recovering the 'posts' most important, in my opinion, of returning home, back to publish four issues of this very peculiar ...

------------------------------------

Another Spanish La Movida (Part One)

La Otra Movida Española (Primera Parte) As in the past few weeks I'm moving, I had to re-organize all my belongings to catalog and decide what is thrown away and what is preserved, since the floor which I move is smaller than the last.

Obviously what they were first made sure my vinyl, tapes, original audio and video CDs and DVDs, but it was my turn to decide what to do with chrome over 1000 cassettes (most quite magnetized by the passage of time and lack of use for several years) that I have in a shop window.

Examining and noting sadly that most of them are useless, I came to mind many stories, friends, love and 'bottlenecks' that went to the beat of their songs.

Of that amount, about 10% are pirates and the latter was one that caught my attention first because of the color print of the cover (a red fluorescent yellow that it was impossible not to notice) and secondly, for the wonder songs it contained.

I still remember that I bought a sunny autumn afternoon in downtown Lima, in a wagon which stood at the intersection of Wilson Avenue and Bolivia, a few days before returning to Madrid: It was him and ready to shine.
I approached the seller to ask what was in that tape that was so bright and he said he had no idea of the issues contained therein, which was a cassette that no one seemed interested, which seemed to rock in Spanish and before disposal, decided to make it more 'appealing' to see if someone's itch 'and take him away.

I asked him to teach and observe the front of the tape box, this had nothing drawn only thing we had was a handwritten statement that read "Unknown Songs."
In the back of it was the list of only some issues but not the interpreter (with spelling errors of law, of course).

Great was my surprise when the first song he said quote: "My Corason rock and roll" ... then I thought, 'I do not think ... impossible! ".
Just to annoy asked him to try the tape and listening to the bars of the theme of the Spanish group China, I was most impressed and soon I needed to start singing there, but thinking I could get a good discount if I decided to take it, I showed a total disinterest.

Another title contained in the box was "the sword of your inner" (¿?), hear that I understood that it was the theme of "looking into the fire" of the group Religion ... and that was all I needed to hear: Against all odds I bought my first cassette pirate on that sunny fall afternoon and I rushed to get home, they were fifteen tracks of which only five have the title and only two had heard.

Upon arrival, I went straight to the ' three in one "and" ecstatic-I could hear the rest of the tape: Groups of the caliber of Victoria Station, Dogo and Mercenaries or Platinum, which made me think that the title 'unknown songs' no bad is going to this collection, because unfortunately most people consume only what sells more, most commercial (although not all necessarily bad trade) and little attention or perhaps never know, that there were jobs without being released or recognized as needed, especially abroad, have all the attributes to become true icons of a generation.

That tape colors are vivid today, as most useless. But seeing her again led to me writing this note and share in this first installment, some issues that were engraved in my mind from outstanding productions and rarely are remembered or included in any compilation, but thanks to the magic of blogs and the internet today you can share with the world and perhaps in some way, give them the credit they deserve by trying to immortalize in memory of all who live in those times and in general all those who grew up with them.

Then a small mixture of items included:

The list:
01. Alarm - Ready to rock and roll
February. Victoria Station - Red October
03. The Honourable Society - Gibraltar
04. Platinum - outlaw
05. The Lady is hidden - Get the wind

Discharge

Over 75 minutes of good memories, make it obligatory walk through all those issues that once defined a part of our lives and most of which have gone unnoticed or been forgotten by the radio for quite some time.

------------------------------------

Another Spanish La Movida (Part Two)

La Otra Movida Española (Segunda Parte) I'm not watching too much television but I remember more than a year ago, after receiving the welcome news that could finally see Soda Stereo live (well, it was gratifying to hear how expensive the tickets were going to be) a lit and changing channels and over again, I caught an old movie that was moderately related to the Spanish underground scene in the early eighties.

While looking back in time to Almodovar and McNamara do his thing on stage came to my mind an issue that has only one stanza, and the most trite:
"A-fluorine, is the sensation that you feel after eating, brushing teeth, with a-fluorine.

Immediately I checked my email and I noticed with surprise that, among other things, had arrived some emails asking about the date of departure of the second installment of The Other Movida Spanish.
As there was little sleep, lively, in some way, by the above, I began to review the records, tapes, CDs and mp3 files I have for several corners of the room (I have not had time to fix them properly).

It struck three o'clock. Had no sleep and still is that when you do something that you really like, time stops.
Unfortunately, your body takes its toll sooner or later and then there was that I fell asleep at noon.

All he did Derribos Arias was most twisted but still, I could at least hum their songs often.
With "a-fluorine" deep, began my journey home yesterday, ending another interesting song not heard long ago:
"The mirrors repel your image, you have condemned to solitude"
Phrase included in "your pain" of notables, egocentric and sadly missing Alphaville, owners of a quality rarely seen musical.

Anyway, between whistles and flutes, as my mother often said the result was, apart from the notable reduction hearing because of having your eardrums shattered, end of monthly reserve coffee and some heartburn, follows:

This second musical journey is composed of:
01. Alphaville - Your pain
02. Black Kiss - Tell All
03. Pistons - Persecution
04. De Diego - Chico
05. Desperados - As high as we leave, as hard as we can
06. Skeletons - Radio 222
07. Demolition Arias - A fluor
08. 7th Seal - Corrida
September. V2-Berlin - Something is happening
10. Glamour - try to forget
11. Parabuten Academy - When I hit
12. Luz - Rufino
13. + RH - Clear dummy
14. Telegram - Subway Girl
15. Jokes or What - The pool
16. Glutamate Ye Ye - When the boys are well
17. Biceps - The Canvas
18. Tender Mancebos - Every time it happens
19. The Chinese - The wild man
20. Bay Boys - Today for you

Discharge

Finally, more than seventy minutes of regression required the hand of these 20 tracks that surely will bring more than a pleasant memory.

------------------------------------

Another Spanish La Movida (Part Three)

La Otra Movida Española (Tercera Parte) Soda Stereo was able to gather about 300,000 people in Argentina, more than 125 000 in Chile, more than 150,000 in Mexico, more than 40,000 in Colombia, as many here in Lima ('other city of Fury') ...

The 'Sodamanía' did nothing but reconfirmed and extended to younger generations, to the point that parents and children jumped from chanting while embracing some of the themes of this remarkable band from Buenos Aires.

From "game of seduction" to "make you lack vitamins," human waves emitted the "oee, oee, oee ... soda, soda!" Everywhere.
Zeta dominating the low and getting the typical Peruvian chullo. Alberti destroying the battery and giving away his drumsticks to the public before leaving. A Cerati, as almost always, excellent ...

The tour will see me back was a success and our city witnessed-twice-the brief return of the Argentine group that, without doubt, will always occupy a special place in our memories.

What it has to do with the subject of this entry? For although I am not a fan of Soda, his return reawakened in me the desire to listen to rock in Spanish this past weekend.
On the other hand, had an interesting email inbox that said a unique experience with the Spanish Movida of '80 that I loved and made me remember a couple of groups that, although there was hidden in my records not heard for a long time.

I refer to 'tecnopop' Basque basins represented by Iturriaga and the band 'mod' Madrid that often filled the Rock-Ola, Panic Speed.
Among the previously reported and a little with the will, I made a compilation of ten songs that would become the continuation of this, as always, improvised and step input, I see a couple of orders placed for some time.

Then the usual mix:

This third installment is comprised of:
01. Tropic of Cancer - Let me breathe
02. Panic Speed - way of being
03. Tango - Tickets for glamor
04. Gabinete Caligari - The fault was the cha-cha-cha
05. Armas Blancas - Nostalgia for the future
06. Care Care - On the Edge of the World
07. Flash Strato - Under your wheels
08. Bathrooms Iturriaga - Image noise
September. Design - Love Games
10. Asphalt - Song for a child

Discharge

So, while I needed to experience this feeling of destroying my eardrums at the point of listening to songs forgotten and / or discontinued, and even knowing that the sound in some of them not exactly the best, I hope that one will receive more than this collection - almost archaeological certain topics-in a good way.

------------------------------------

Another Spanish La Movida (Part Four)

La Otra Movida Española (Cuarta Parte) After a few days full of responsibilities and little things pending, we're back with the fourth part of this endemic sequel.
Last weekend, I had the usual bad-and dangerously-experience of watching two gangs fighting with stones, sticks and even swords.
Excess alcohol and jealousy of the leader of one of them were supposedly "the motives that started this brawl, very near where I live now.

I will not go into details because it is not worth it.
Just mention that given my habit of linking unique situations that observed with songs and / or videos housed in a hidden area of my memory, I went with a passage from this sad spectacle teenager with a familiar theme of the Iberian group Dinamita Pa 'Los Pollos, giving and start this little collection of eleven tracks that I offer today.

This time I crossed the border to rescue the 80-among others-a topic of the group 'tecnopop' Berlin, the second single from their debut album When The Sky ceases to exist (Max Music, 1993), or that wonderful and interesting pop group gave us the brief on your hard Natural Sciences invoiced by Polygram Ibérica, back in 1995, which by the way almost nobody noticed.

Also included is a version of a classic film by the project-full of artists, musicians and composers of high-called Cinemaspop.
That little gem that had to be modified at the request of the company, the title "never left me satisfied."
The iconic song that went "that are fast bikes ... all white ... go to the same place ... how well it is spent ... what a colorful"
Another that also left us as a souvenir one of the first wave pop groups of Madrid, Models.

Also let the song "living night" Veni Vidi Vici, pandering and the order of a colleague.

Anyway, better listen to the mix:

Topics protagonists this time are:
01. The Farm - Kids want fun
02. Dinamita Pa 'Los Pollos - Gangs
03. Iron Monday - Terrorist attack
04. Wheels - OK Nastassia Kinski
05. The Models - Black Glasses
06. Natural Sciences - On the platform of the heart
07. Berlin - 7 kisses
08. Cinemaspop - James Bond 007
September. Informers - Never let me satisfied
10. Atomic Bongos - never should have come together so far
11 Veni, Vidi, Vici - Living by night

Discharge

And nothing, hoping you enjoy this selection as much or more than me, with your permission I will retire to dive back into the routine of everyday life, but bearable thanks to the music that never fails to accompany them wherever they go.

7 Responses to "The Other Spanish Movida [I - IV]

  1. Interesting your comments and opinions about the move Caesar. In the case of the "Spanish movida" This lies more in Madrid with some sparks of Valencia and Barcelona. Reading on the Internet to many analysts that movement, is described as purely local (not national) and which focused on Madrid. The city was full of clubs and alternative sites. Any recorded a good or bad disk as well as today any good or bad does a blog. And within that culture Undergorund and hundreds of bands and singers, there were groups that even one or two discs released a thousand copies each inconseguible gems that are now (and sometimes not even the members present), some were only in models, there were wonderful things and some not so. Antonio Vega Nacha Pop said that the death of the "scene" was normal and no effervescence may be permanent but it laid the groundwork for today.
The "golden age" of Paloma Chamorro presented to all the artists he could. I think it was material for the program will last 20 years. I think that in Spain and sold in DVD Chamorro programs where you saw the kids to Jaime Urrutia, Javier Andreu, Loquillo, Alaska and more.
There are many movies where the "scene" is part of the topic, however in 1985 it was already practically dead and few groups (relatively few) continue on the road.
In the virtual stores as "The English court" or "shopping www.zona" There are dozens of compilations of the movement, and even buying all, provided no shortage of many items that went from simple model or a simple mini LP.
That's what you've to add hundreds that existed and never came to your hands. I also look with nostalgia my k7'sy as they grow old. Dust and the physics have died down, but do not want to die.
    Greetings

  2. Right.
I will never forget the first program of Paloma, one in which they were presented Kaka de Luxe, a group that meant as she said "the beginning of many things", an opinion that could also apply to the first chapter of The Golden Age

At the inaugural delivery paraded his little theater's Kaka de Luxe, Radio Futura, La Mode and he paid tribute to the leader of the Permanent Paralysis, Eduardo Benavente, who died just days before at the age of 20 years.

The Golden Age is certainly one of the best music programs of all time.

    Thanks for the visit.

  3. Currently, there are many venues like yesterday and a lot of groups belonging to the scene "indie", you do not see more than Subterfuge Records labels like to see that there are currently very good groups, one that comes to my mind so to Suddenly eg Vanexxa, other ... Begoña Swingtown Murderer ... anyway many of them.

  4. Indeed, only now have the 'advantage' of the internet, giving them the opportunity to promote their work and / or your music to be known by more people.

  5. Good very good report. Rather, an inquiry into the link that says download and enter the website but it came locked, and I asked for a password, is it necessary to put a key?. Appreciate your response and good luck.

  6. Oscar Indeed,

It is perfectly suited to the end of the entry.
Also, if you want to download the national compilation will also need to do the same.

    Greetings.

  7. Greetings. He had time to get behind some of the topics you have over all inputs. But when you enter the download area tells me that the files have been deleted from meeting more than 30 days inactive or no downloads. If you were kind enough to put them back I would appreciate it.

For the rest, your blog perfect and very interesting to know (or in my case remember) a little more to the groups that we moved during the 80s. Greetings from Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.

What do you think?
